The Department of Anatomy at RKDF Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Bhopal teaches the structure of the human body — gross anatomy, histology, embryology, neuroanatomy and human genetics — to first-year MBBS students. It is the foundation on which clinical examination, diagnostic imaging and surgical skill are later built. Teaching follows the National Medical Commission (NMC) competency-based curriculum and combines lectures with cadaveric dissection, histology practicals, museum study, surface and radiological anatomy, and small-group tutorials. The department maintains a dissection hall, a histology laboratory and an anatomy museum with specimens, models and imaging correlations, supported by a body-donation programme conducted under prescribed legal and ethical norms. Faculty also run integrated teaching sessions with Radio-Diagnosis and the surgical departments and guide undergraduate research, so that students connect structure with function and with patient care from the very first year.
