Department of Biochemistry
Exploring the chemistry of life, advancing scientific knowledge, and strengthening the foundation of modern medicine.
About the Department of Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry at RKDF Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Bhopal studies the chemical and molecular basis of life — metabolism, enzymes, nutrition, molecular biology and the biochemical changes that underlie disease. Taught in Phase I of the MBBS programme, it connects basic science directly to laboratory diagnosis. Teaching covers carbohydrate, lipid, protein and nucleic-acid metabolism, vitamins and minerals, acid-base balance, clinical enzymology and molecular genetics through lectures, practicals, seminars and case-based integrated sessions aligned to the NMC competency-based curriculum. Students work in a demonstration laboratory and gain supervised exposure to the hospital’s central clinical biochemistry laboratory, where liver, renal, lipid, thyroid and cardiac profiles are processed on automated analysers. The department supports diagnostic reporting for the teaching hospital, follows internal and external quality-assurance protocols, and encourages faculty and undergraduate research.
Vision
Dedicated cell linking students with hospitals, PG entrance coaching.
