About the Department of Anaesthesiology
The Department of Anaesthesiology at RKDF Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Bhopal provides perioperative and critical-care anaesthesia support for surgical, obstetric, orthopaedic, ENT, ophthalmic and emergency procedures across the teaching hospital, along with pain management and resuscitation services. The department covers pre-anaesthetic assessment clinics, general, regional and local anaesthesia, monitored intraoperative care, post-anaesthesia recovery, intensive-care support and round-the-clock emergency and obstetric anaesthesia cover. It also leads cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and difficult-airway management within the hospital. Undergraduate teaching follows the NMC competency-based curriculum and covers airway assessment, basic and advanced life support, oxygen therapy, intravenous access, safe use of local anaesthetics, monitoring principles and pre-operative evaluation, delivered through clinical postings, operation-theatre and ICU exposure and supervised skills practice.
