Department of Physiology

Understanding how the body works, exploring vital functions, and building the foundation for better healthcare.

About the Department of Physiology

The Department of Physiology at RKDF Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Bhopal explains how the human body works — how cells, organs and systems function in health, and how those functions change in disease. It is a Phase I pre-clinical MBBS subject taught alongside Anatomy and Biochemistry. The curriculum covers general physiology, blood, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, reproductive physiology and neurophysiology, delivered through lectures, demonstrations, seminars and laboratory practicals under the NMC competency-based framework. Students train in haematology, clinical and experimental physiology laboratories, learning skills such as blood counts, blood-pressure recording, ECG, spirometry and nervemuscle studies. Integrated sessions with General Medicine and other clinical departments help learners apply physiological reasoning to real cases, while faculty support student research projects and continuing academic activity within the department.
