Department of Orthopaedics
The Department of Orthopaedics at RKDF Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Bhopal provides surgical and non-surgical treatment of bone, joint, spine and musculoskeletal conditions, including fractures and polytrauma, arthritis, sports injuries, deformity correction, paediatric orthopaedics and joint replacement. The department runs specialist OPD clinics, dedicated wards, a plaster and traction room, fracture and trauma emergency cover and orthopaedic operation theatres with image-intensifier support, working closely with RadioDiagnosis, Anaesthesiology and rehabilitation services. Undergraduate teaching covers trauma management principles, fracture care, splinting and plaster application, clinical examination of joints and interpretation of musculoskeletal imaging, delivered through clinical postings, bedside teaching and supervised theatre exposure under the NMC competency-based curriculum. Regular trauma meetings, case discussions and departmental research support academic development for students and resident doctors.
